Social Psychology PhD Candidate | University of Michigan
Hello! I am a PhD candidate in Social Psychology at the University of Michigan, working with Josh Ackerman and Arnold Ho.
My research examines, from an evolutionary perspective, how people use various types of information and cues to navigate their social worlds, particularly when those cues are ambiguous, conflicting, or violate normative expectations. I am especially interested in how individuals form impressions and stereotypes of others when their emotional expressions, ecological backgrounds, and/or behaviors deviate from what is socially expected.
Before starting my PhD at the University of Michigan and joining the ESP Lab, I received my B.S. in Psychology (Psychological Science) and in Applied Quantitative Science from Arizona State University, where I worked as a research assistant in the Evolution, Ecology, and Social Behavior Lab with Dr. Steven Neuberg and Dr. Douglas Kenrick and the Quantitative Evaluation of Experimental and Naturalistic Studies Lab (QUEENS) Lab with Dr. Holly O'Rourke.
In my free time, I volunteer with the NextGen Psych Scholars Program, take ceramics classes at a local studio, and learn new vegetarian recipes (latest cookbooks: here and here).
